About the Tutors
Mrs. Wattenbarger began her career path working as a police dispatcher for a busy sheriff’s department in Illinois before moving to Arizona in the 90’s. There, she began working for a 911 fire and EMS communications center in Scottsdale. She quickly rose through the ranks to supervisor and trainer in the department.
Mr. Wattenbarger began his career as a firefighter paramedic and then a city paramedic with Kansas City, MO. He dedicated much of his time to instructing in this career path as well. He moved to Phoenix, AZ in the 90’s and began working for the same 911 communications center where Mrs. Wattenbarger would later begin working. He became a supervisor and trainer and, together with Mrs. Wattenbarger, trained and oversaw the operation of 40+ employees in a busy 911 communications center.
Mr. Wattenbarger went on to pursue his lifelong desire to fly and teach by becoming a flight instructor and went to work for the airlines in 2007. Due to medical reasons, he stopped flying in 2016 while Mrs. Wattenbarger was teaching elementary school in Arizona. Mr. Wattenbarger was already enjoying the opportunity to help her with her teaching by putting on small classes for her class as well as her 5th grade team and this was the beginning of their teamwork!
When Mr. Wattenbarger was no longer able to fly, he began teaching 5th grade on the same team as Mrs. Wattenbarger. They were able to collaborate on many projects to benefit the students and the team. Mrs. Wattenbarger continues to teach 4th and 5th grade as a special education resource teacher here in Sarasota county. Mr. Wattenbarger is currently dedicating his time to tutoring.
